How To Choose A Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam mattresses continue to grow in popularity, as many are buying them in hopes of sleeping better at night. These mattresses will not only help you get more rest, but will reduce the pain that is sometimes felt when waking up. You might of heard someone who owns a memory foam mattress say they are unsatisfied with it. This is most likely because they probably didn’t do any type of comparison shopping and purchased one that is of low quality. Memory foam mattresses vary in quality just like any other product. The following will discuss how to choose a memory foam mattress.

Density

One of the most important considerations is density. Pounds per cubic foot are used to measure the density of memory foam mattresses. The more dense it is, the greater the durability and the more it will adjust to your body. The scale for density is 1-5, and any memory foam mattress that measures greater than a 4.5 is thought of as dense. The lower quality mattresses are the ones with low density, so these are the ones to avoid.

While the lower quality memory foam mattresses are not as expensive as some of the others, the issue is that they are not built to last like the premium ones are. This means that you will have to replace them more often, and could result in you spending more money in the long run. Not to mention that a higher quality memory foam mattress will treat your body much better.

Thickness

Thickness is often confused for density among consumers, but they do not have the same meaning. For example, a memory foam mattress might be 2 inches thick but could be a 5 on the density scale. On the other hand, a mattress 4 inches thick might only have a density of 2. Because the 2 inch memory foam mattress is more dense, this is the better choice since it will adjust to your body more effectively.

Memory Foam %

How much memory foam do you want in your mattress? Some mattresses are not 100% memory foam, as they also contain fillers. The reason for this is to maintain the softness of the mattress, though it’s best to get ones that have a high percentage of memory foam. The same goes for memory foam mattress toppers.

The quality of memory foam mattresses is greater than regular mattresses and will help you sleep better at night. However, not all of these mattresses are made the same so be careful which one you choose. Keep in the mind that the lower priced ones are probably lower quality, which means it probably isn’t as dense or durable.
